If you’re planning a trip to Orlando to visit the theme parks, you’re going to want to make sure you stay near Disney World.

This means you can get to the parks for opening time without worrying about waking up at the crack of dawn!

While there are many resorts near Disney you can stay at, they often don’t come with facilities where you can make yourself at home.

We love staying in vacation homes when we travel, especially with kids, as they have spaces where you can relax, full kitchens for cooking meals, and enough space for the whole family to find their space to relax in.

If you’re looking for vacation homes near Disney in Orlando, then you’ve come to the right place.

Below we have shared our top Disney vacation homes within close proximity to Orlando’s Disneyland, so you can find the right home for you and your group.

What to Look For in a Vacation Home near Disney?

Relaxing at our vacation rental homes in Orlando

What you look for in a vacation home largely depends on your travel style.

Are you looking to work less, and relax more? Do you want a luxurious item that you wouldn’t have at home such as swimming in a private pool or relaxing in hot tubs?

Perhaps you are traveling with kids and would be looking for somewhere with entertainment for them, such as a games room where they can play pool or table tennis?

If you’re traveling with friends, does the vacation home have somewhere where you can chat over wine and dinner? Such a around a fire pit or hanging out on third floor balconies in a lounge chair?

Vacation homes are usually a bit more lavish than a resort, so if you’re pushing the boat out and opting to pay the extra, then make sure you have the extra.

As well as this, you want to make sure it’s kitted out with everything you need to enjoy your stay without having to bring additional items or head out to the store to buy it.

Make sure the kitchen comes fully stocked with pots and pans and utensils for every person. The amount of times we’ve stayed in a vacation rental that has enough beds for four people, and only had two mugs, is ridiculous.

You may also want to make sure it has a washer and dryer if you’re staying for longer than a week, and parking is essential since you don’t want to have to pay extra for this.

Also check that it comes with bedding, towels and toiletries in the bathroom so you don’t have to bring your own.

If you’re worried about security, see what features the home comes with. Does it have CCTV or is it in a secure, gated community?

Lastly, ensure it has air conditioning. This is Florida, and it’s always hot! Trust me, you’ll need it.

How Does the Cost of an Orlando Vacation Home Compare to Disney World Hotels?

10-bedroom rental homes near Disney World like the one at Reunion Resort start from $995 per night up to $1,845 per night.

It may sound expensive but it actually works out pretty cheap if you split the cost a few ways.

So, for easy math, let’s say you had five families with four people in it, each family would pay $199 – $369 per night.

In comparison, to a Disney Hotel for basic rooms for a family of four (approx costs):

  • All-Star-Music, a value resort (and the cheapest Disney World hotel), would cost around $157 per night.
  • Port Orleans, a moderate hotel it would cost $193 per night
  • Wilderness Lodge, the lower end of the deluxe hotel range for a week would be around $452 per night.

The benefits of staying at a Disney Hotel is that you are closer to the parks and may receive extra benefits like Magic Hour entries.

However, if I was traveling with a large group of people, I would still choose a luxury villa vacation home through The Top Villas as it is way better value for money.

And I like to spend my week doing other things besides Disney World, like relaxing!

Relaxing at our Orlando vacation home

With the cost of the vacation rental, you also get access to the large kitchen which means less money spent eating out at expensive restaurants.

You can find cheaper hotels outside of Disney World, some as close as a five minute drive away. You can find hotel rooms for as little as $150 a night.

So to compare to our luxury vacation home in Orlando, for 7 nights for a family of four, it would cost around $1,050.

If there’s a group of you vacationing together, why not rent a mansion decked out with amazing amenities instead of being crowded into small, and separate hotel rooms?

It may be cheaper for each family to stay in one of these budget hotel rooms, however, you’d also be having to eat out, which would add to your costs, and the experience just wouldn’t be as good as one of these vacation homes in Orlando, Florida.

I’d still pay the extra $400 to have this luxury vacation experience instead.

It really was an exceptional week we had with our friends filled with great memories!

This is why we travel!
