In order to travel more and get value for your money, you need good travel resources. This page lists the products and services we personally use to find travel deals and run our business.

Booking Accommodation

Booking.com

Booking.com is our first choice for searching accommodation. They have over 1 million properties including hotels, apartments, and hostels worldwide. You get free cancellation on most rooms and a best price guarantee!

Airbnb

Airbnb is a preferred provider for home and apartment rentals, a great way to live like a local. You can book the entire property or just spare bedrooms. We’ve got a $50AUD credit for you on your first stay.

Hotwire

Great for last minute deals. Hotwire obtains deep discounts from its suppliers to help you book unsold hotel rooms. If you care less about a specific hotel brand and just want to save money, check them out.

Booking Flights

Skyscanner

Skyscanner is a great flight search comparison website that allows you to search millions of flights all at once. When you find your best deal, book directly through the airline (no middle man or extra fees).

Momondo

Another great comparison website for flights that can save you time and hopefully some money. Momondo is a global search site that checks the leading travel sites including the low-cost airlines.

Kayak

Simple, comprehensive and intuitive comparison site. The Kayak Explore tool is another fun way to search for flights to anywhere by simply typing in your departure city.

Getting Around

RentalCars

RentalCars.com is the world’s biggest car rental booking service that can save you time by comparing all the major brands with one click including Hertz, Avis, Alamo, Thrifty, Enterprise, Dollar, and Europcar.

Rail Europe

With Rail Europe you can access fares, schedules, maps, and rail passes for over 50 different train companies across all European train networks and book with the #1 worldwide distributor of train tickets.

Japan Rail Pass

The Japan Rail Pass (also known as JR Pass) is a multi-use ticket which offers incredible value for money. It is valid for journeys on all JR national trains including Shinkansen bullet trains and Narita Express trains.

Insurance + Protection

World Nomads

World Nomads is a trusted insurer we have used many times during our travels. They cover residents of over 150 countries and policies can bought online 24/7, from anywhere in the world, even if you’re already traveling.

Allianz

Whether you are traveling for leisure or business, traveling domestic or international, or you need an annual plan, millions of travelers trust Allianz Global Assistance. Tell them about your trip, and they’ll find you the right plan.

NordVPN

NordVPN’s super-safe advanced VPN service will give you safe browsing on the internet, complete privacy, plus access to websites no matter where you are surfing the web in the world. Perfect way to stay connected, even in China!

Travel Ebooks + Guides

How to Become a House-Sitter

Dalene and Pete have had 14 jobs in 9 countries and have saved over $50,000 in the cost of accommodations as a result. Their ebook gives all the secrets behind their house-sitting success and how you can do it too.

Lonely Planet

Our guide books of choice. We’ve been using Lonely Planet books since the 1990’s. But we use them as they are intended to be used “as a guide” and don’t just stick to everything LP says.
