When I lived in Raleigh, North Carolina I watched far too much TV. How times have changed! One day, I was drawn into an infomercial about mineral makeup. Their catch phrase was, “Makeup so pure you can sleep with it on.”
I signed up straight away. When I told my friends about it, I’d say, “It’s so good, you can sleep with it on and I do.”
I was not one for spending hours of a night removing makeup. I don’t even think I had a cleansing routine back then even in the morning. I shudder looking back at that because I am pretty sure that make up was not that pure you can sleep with it on.
I highly doubt there’s anything you put on our face of a day that should not be cleaned off at night.
Why does wisdom come with age?
When I was shooting my video with the Garnier production team, I was chatting with a lady from Kidspot about the product we were filming the commercial for – Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. She asked me if I thought it was a good product.
“You know I really like it. It feels like Evian water to me – it has that silky smooth feel to it. Evian is about the only mineral water that actually tastes like it’s more special than the tap to me. Micellar cleansing water feels the same way.”
She said, “I think I need to try some as I’m really bad when it comes time to removing makeup. I tend to get lazy and fall straight into bed.”
“Yep. That was so me too. But, this is really easy. A few swipes and it’s off. Plus it has that Evian feel to it so I feel a little special when using it.”
And that’s it. I now have a very simple evening cleansing routine. The makeup remover acts as a cleanser as well. Depending on what I’ve put on my face during the day, it might take me more cotton pads to get the makeup off – like the makeup I had to wear to shoot the professional videos!
But on a general day, a couple of swipes and it’s off. No rinsing needed. Actually while I’m here talking about rinsing. I’ve just had an aha moment. It’s one of the reasons why I’ve never followed a skin care routine. I hate rinsing. I do my morning skin care routine in the shower now to avoid that.
Does anyone else have this issue with rinsing or am I weird?
Micellar water saves me from rinsing so I like it!
I actually feel so much better knowing I’m going to bed with a clean face clear of makeup (not to mention cleaner pillows!)
Check out the commercial I filmed with Garnier for their Micellar water:
The technical bit for you – Micellar water was created over a hundred years ago to help Parisians deal with the region’s harsh water supply.
The formula is made of micelles, which are tiny oil molecules suspended in soft water. The micelles are attracted to dirt, grime and oil and draw out the skins’ impurities without drying it out. No foamy solution stripping your skin and leaving behind harsh chemicals.
Now that I’m travelling a lot for business – attending events and speaking at conferences, I’m wearing more makeup, so Micellar water has become quite the essential for my travel luggage.
It’s also great for travel as it saves you having to bring cleansers, toners and moisturisers – it does all of that for you. And it’s so cheap at $12.95 for 400ml bottle!
Don’t put it in your carry-on if you are flying internationally as it will be confiscated. But definitely pop your BB cream in there. I always apply a layer of BB cream when we arrive to brighten up the jet lag face.
Micellar mineral water is perfect for your suitcase to keep an easy cleansing routine happening.
