34 Things I love About Travel
There are many times throughout my daily life that I have a travel flashback or a thought that reminds me of everything I love about travel.
These are the moments that have made me such a travel addict.

One of the best things about travel is coming home and telling all your friends and family about it; although, they will never fully understand!
Yes! I agree on both accounts. A lot of the time they don’t really want to know but tell them anyway
We’re in trouble trying to decide which reason is the most important for us. It seems that all of them apply for us. Great post, Caz!
cheers,

They are all why we keep going
I love them all! #21: My Spanish host mom wet a cloth with water and olive oil and told my roommates and I to dab our sunburned skin with it.
I’d also throw being told to take a nap during the middle of the afternoon into the mix. Here are four legitimate reasons to nap even if you aren’t traveling: http://www.goabroad.com/blog/2012/08/07/legitimate-reasons/
I’ve never been much of a napper, but I do allow myself on the odd occasion while travelling. I think you have permission to do anything really! Will remember that home remedy
Great post! I agree with all of those – especially #2 (aaahh!) and #25 – amazing how a one day travel experience can form such long lasting bonds.
My list includes:
* Supermarket shopping in foreign countries to check out what is available and what the locals eat
* Street markets, especially food ones
* Walking the city streets until I find a restaurant filled with locals
* Seeing new wildlife – animals, sea life, insects for the first time – and new / different trees / vegetation
* Freedom! To be where I want, when I want
* The liberating feeling that no one else in the world knows where you are right now (can also be a bit scary!)
* In Italy and Spain, using every taxi journey as an opportunity to take a free language class (I speak conversational Italian and very basic Spanish)
…and totally agree with Lauren, afternoon naps are awesome!
Love your work!

Great list Dianne! The list gets longer the more you think about it doesn’t it? There is so much to explore and love about travel. The adventure and good times never stop. Thanks for sharing
For me, it’s the chance to see how people live in other parts of the world and try to learn from them (a lot of them are so much wiser than folks from “Western world”).

This I want. The more the merrier! But I don’t travel much… yet.
What are some or the things I love about travel? Well, travelling reveals who I really am. It gives me the freedom to do anything I want and to go with the flow.
This list made me smile

Great list! It’s amazing that you have opened up a whole different world for your children of adventure and exploration. If you had to choose your top 3, which ones would they be?

Hard choice:
1. Spending the day swinging in a hammock by the beach reading a book
2.The permission to do what I want when I want
3. Owning nothing
It’s all about freedom for me! And you?
I loved this list – made me think of some of my favourite things about travel!
-getting lost – in a good way
-learning from the locals
-discovering new foods and food cultures
-following the road less travelled
-listening to the sounds of the night
-farmers markets
So true! Agree with all the points … there is just everything we should love about traveling … even the bad days as they teach us something and then after a while we laugh on them

We agree with number 15, having the permission to do nothing! Nothing beats a guilt free rest.
No. 2, 9, 15, 16, and 24 are my favourites. I also need to try more of the items on this list!
