I never thought attending a pro surf contest could be such an enjoyable and casual experience. On Saturday, we attended the Legendary Pacific Coast Pro Surfest held at Merewether Beach, Newcastle. While the weather from Sydney up to Nelson Bay was experiencing wild rainstorm, this little pocket of Newcastle was spared, and we had a day of glorious sunshine and 3-6 foot swells for the women’s final and men’s heats.
