Visas

Do I need a travel visa for my countries of choice, and if yes when and where do I get them? The only way to find that out is to do some research.

A lot of friendly countries offer visas “on arrival” at their airport or border crossing. These tourist visas typically last 30 days, but sometimes only 2 weeks or as long as 12 months!

You will be asked to provide at least 1 passport sized photo of yourself – get some extras and carry them in your money pouch.

If a countries travel visa requires that you have to mail your passport along with the forms to the country’s embassy in your home country, make sure you get certified mail with tracking options.

  • You can also check out visa requirements by visiting each country’s Embassy website or visit Travisa for easy access to all country requirements.
  • When paying  for a high priced visa, if possible try and avoid excess processing fees and postage by visiting the embassy in person vs. mailing away for it.

  1. This is a very important aspect of travel that many people overlook. As you mentioned, visas on arrival are typically okay. But if you’re looking to stay in an area for a month or more, this process can sometimes be a headache, So your links here can be very helpful in researching for that process. Thanks for these good reminders.
