Who’s feeling the love for this year already?
It’s the new Mayan calendar right? Got you all fired up!
This is the first year in many we are so excited–not wishful-excitement and thank-goodness-anther-year-has-gone relief-but honest knowing that life is going to rock it.
Embrace the opportunity for change, growth, and peace.
Here’s where we are headed this year:
Our new motto:
Travel more. Create better memories.
Craig and I spent months discussing the purpose of our blog and what we wanted our motto to be.
Everyone talks about the niche, but how can you compartmentalize travel experiences that have spanned 15 years and included solo travel, budget travel, couples travel, family travel, working holiday, backpacking travel and short-breaks?
Travel is our lifestyle and it has evolved as we have.
We don’t want to tell people to travel in one certain way, as we know any way is good enough. We want to help people to travel more, no matter their style or preferences.
We believe life is all about the memories.
It is the only thing that you can take with you as you move from one chapter of your life to the next and eventually to the final destination.
Travel is a way to create better memories. And that is what we want you to do .
Travel more and create better memories.
The new look website design should be here next week. YAY!
Website design is a lengthy process. We can’t wait for you to see it. We’ll be releasing a new video series sharing our best 9 tips for having more travel in your life.
Those who sign up to our newsletter will get access.
We recently asked readers to take a survey (thanks to those who did, if you didn’t, it’s not too late- click here)
We were pleased to hear the design of y travel blog is unliked – not because we’re glad it sucks, but because we are stoked we decided to improve the look and make it more functional.
We have taken on board so many recommendations, including creating products to help you travel more. We are focused this year on offering information on a range of different travel experiences and providing tips helping you to plan and save for travel. (Some cool tips coming up.)
I did discuss with Craig at length as to whether we should include porn photos? As one person suggested. But, luckily for you, we decided that whilst it might spice up our married life, it probably wouldn’t fit too well with the blog.
Maybe a new venture perhaps? So sorry to the person who requested that.
Our focus this year is definitely on creating our own products. Our readers are asking for it through the survey and we are intent on delivering.
We have already started work on an app, which we hope will be out in a few months and will kickstart a whole series. Stay tuned.
I’m also keen to finish up a couple of ebooks and guides to assist those with the planning of travel.
We are keen to get the travel podcast consistently rocking. Ideally we would like one podcast a week, but let’s aim for 2 a month.
Craig was recently told by an “energy reader” that he is a humourist and has the ability to change the world with his inner clown! So, the clown has been invited to enter the recording studio.
We love the medium of video to show the travel experience, we just aren’t that great at creating them.
We’ve decided we’ll never make the cutting edge creative style, so we’re just going to do raw in the moment shooting. You can see our very amateur style already over on our You Tube channel.
At the moment, we are trying to lay low on the travel scene! What? This is a travel blog! We know, lucky for you we have over 15 years experience so have plenty of knowledge to share to fill in the gaps.
It’s not that we don’t WANT to travel, we just have to pause it in order to achieve the above mentioned things.
And because Kalyra is starting school in February (how could this be??)
If an opportunity arises (and we are working on it with our agent) where we can travel for a long period, I have no hesitation homeschooling for a period of time. It’s not our long term plan, but one year wouldn’t hurt.
But, until that happens, I don’t want to be pulling her in and out of school. It’s either one or the other.
We’ll still be making use of school holidays, weekends and doing trips solo, if needed.
The first two months of the year should give us a good indication of our travel plans. We do have a 2 week family trip to Thailand locked in for January and are planning a short camping trip (maybe not so low on the travel scene after all!)
