Dead Vlei is a white clay pan located near the more famous salt pan of Sossusvlei, inside the Namib-Naukluft Park in Namibia. Dead Vlei is surrounded by the highest sand dunes in the world, the highest reaching 300-400 meters.

Sossusvlei is in the central Namib Desert, lying within the Namib-Naukluft National Park, Namibia. Fed by the Tsauchab River, it is known for the high, red sand dunes which surround it forming a major sand sea.

We camped at the nearby campground and hiked to the top of one of the sand dunes for the early morning sunset, which was a magical experience, see below:
