Best blog posts for the week

Catching up on travel reading

Here are my favorite travel blog posts for the week. Each week I’ll be choosing my favorites to share with you so you can read all the other fabulous travel writing that is going on out there in the travel blogging world. I have stumbled, tweeted, liked and commented on each post and I highly recommend you to do the same. Each week I am aiming to highlight a post that features different travel topics. These are some of the areas I am looking at: travel inspiration, travel video, travel story, travel photography, travel destination, travel tips, or travel blogging tips. If you feel you have a worthy post that you would like me to read, make sure you draw it to my attention either through twitter, Stumbleupon or fan page wall.

10 things Zorba the Greek taught me about life Keith from Traveling Savage reflects on 10 lessons he learned about life from reading the book ‘Zorba the Greek.’ These lessons are so important for all of us to learn and follow in order to live a peaceful and contented life. What struck me as reading this post, was that each of these lessons I have discovered myself through the trials and triumphs of my traveling experiences, and/or through being a mother and living life through the eyes of my soulful daughter, Kalyra. A child has not yet forgotten the essence of where they came from and how that burns so brightly inside of them.

How to be a good travel tweeter by Adventurous Kate Some really helpful tips for any travel bloggers looking to network via twitter. As with any social gathering there are rules and etiquette you need to follow. Kate’s tips will help prevent you from landing in hot water. Twitter is a fantastic way for all those travel fanatics to stay engaged in a community of like minded people and stay up to date with all the latest travel news, stories and events.

Battle at Kruger a travel video by Amateurs in Africa These guys always create great travel videos of their adventures in Africa. I always feel like I am right there with them experiencing all the fun. This one was particularly stirring to me, as Craig and I have been to Kruger and several other game reserves. There is nothing better than driving around and seeing so many of nature’s beasts at play in the wild.

10 things I won’t miss about South Africa by Brendan at My World is a Jungle Gym I have never been to South America, so I really enjoyed these tips that I have now filed away for  my unknown future journey there. A couple of these reminded me of similar situations in Asia and Africa, although I think I could deal with their squat toilets a whole lot more than the toilets without toilet seats as Brendan so eloquently describes in his post.

India’s Venice of the East Andi from My Beautiful Adventures shares with us a photographic journey along the Alleppey backwaters of Kochi in India. Be sure to press the play button for a cool soundtrack that will put you in the river floating mood.

The White Lady by Kevin Ptak as a guest post on the Art of Backpacking. I really enjoyed reading this post that describes a late night white bus in Auckland that serves greasy hamburgers to all the party revelers. Besides making me really hungry and excited for the return of beetroot on my hamburger (an Aussie thing as well), it really brought me back to night club mornings, going for the meat pie or hot dog run with my friends. I could just picture the fun we would have had if we had a White Lady in town.
